South Australia Agent-General Act 1901 An Act to regulate the appointment and tenure of office of Agent-General. Contents 1 Short title 3 Appointment 4 Duties 5 Salary and allowances of Agent-General 6 Term of office Legislative history The Parliament of South Australia enacts as follows: 1—Short title This Act may be cited as the Agent-General Act 1901. 3—Appointment The Governor may appoint any person to be Agent-General for South Australia in the United Kingdom. 4—Duties The office of Agent-General shall be in the department of the Premier, and any person heretofore or hereafter appointed to such office shall be under the supervision, control and direction of the Premier, and shall do all things in the United Kingdom in relation to South Australia that the Premier of the State may direct, or which may be necessary and proper to be done in the best interests of the State. 5—Salary and allowances of Agent-General (1) The Agent-General shall be paid such salary and allowances as the Governor may from time to time determine. (3) The salary and allowances referred to in subsection (1) of this section shall be a charge on the General Revenue of the State which is hereby to the necessary extent appropriated accordingly. 6—Term of office (1) Subject to this section, a person appointed as Agent-General shall hold office for a term, not exceeding five years, specified in the instrument of appointment. (3) The Agent-General may at any time be suspended or removed from office by the Governor.
