Acts Interpretation Amendment (Court Procedures) Act 2003 No. 46, 2003 An Act to amend the Acts Interpretation Act 1901, and for related purposes Contents 1 Short title 2 Commencement 3 Schedule(s) Schedule 1—Acts Interpretation Act 1901 Acts Interpretation Amendment (Court Procedures) Act 2003 No. 46, 2003 An Act to amend the Acts Interpretation Act 1901, and for related purposes [Assented to 26 June 2003] The Parliament of Australia enacts: 1 Short title This Act may be cited as the Acts Interpretation Amendment (Court Procedures) Act 2003. 2 Commencement This Act commences, or is taken to have commenced, on 7 July 2003. 3 Schedule(s) Each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its terms. Schedule 1—Acts Interpretation Act 1901 1 After section 27 Insert: 27A Documents commencing proceedings A reference in a provision of an Act to any one or more of the following in connection with court proceedings: (a) a summons; (b) an information; (c) a claim; (d) a complaint; (e) a declaration; is taken to include a reference to any document through which proceedings may be instituted in a court. Note: An example of such a document is a court attendance notice under the Criminal Procedure Act 1986 of New South Wales. 2 Application The amendment made by this Schedule applies in relation to proceedings instituted on or after 7 July 2003.
